- Who is a member of the PTA?
- Rivers Edge PTA represents the Parents and Teachers of Rivers Edge Elementary School. Every parent who joins at the school is a member of the Rivers Edge PTA, whether or not they attend meetings, and the PTA as an organization welcomes the views of all parents.
- What does the PTA do?
- The PTA is the largest child advocacy organization in the country. Along with advocating for children at the federal, state and local level, the PTA is involved in varying degrees in most school events. Some events, such as the Sock Hop, the Spaghetti Dinner and the Spring Carnival are organized primarily by the PTA. Others are organized mainly by staff at Rivers Edge and the PTA takes responsibility for one aspect, for example the Cultural Enrichment Assemblies. In other words, the PTA works to make these events as successful as possible. Some of our activities are fundraisers, but they equally enrich the atmosphere of the school. - I am a busy working parent. How can I help?
- You don't have to come to meetings to get involved. We appreciate any contribution from baked goods to help at a school event. Join the Rivers Edge Community by e-mailing us at president@reespta.org, and let us know any ways you might be able to help. We'll contact you when an appropriate opportunity arises. We understand that you cannot be available all the time!
- Financial Contributions
- All of our activities support the Rivers Edge school community in one way or another. We raise money through several fundraising opportunities. Some of the ways we use the fundraising money is to pay for equipment for the classrooms, subsidize school trips and events, and many other things that are not covered by the operational finances of the school. Any donation will have a huge effect on the range of support and activities the PTA can offer, so if you can support Rivers Edge in this way, it would be a big help.
