My name is Mary Han and it has been a privilege and honor to serve as the PTA president for the 2015-17 school years. In the short time my family has attended Rivers Edge Elementary, we have felt so welcome.
My daughter Jamie is now a rising 6th grader and my son Ethan is a rising 4th grader. Although I’ll be sharing my time between two schools, I am still excited to be a Rivers Edge parent for another two years!
One of my last events as outgoing president was to meet with the newest Eagles and their families at kindergarten preview in April and present an overview of our PTA. I loved seeing those eager little faces and was excited to welcome them to them into the Rivers Edge community.
We have an amazing PTA here at Rivers Edge with amazing volunteers! A big thanks to all of our volunteers. Without you, we would not be able to have the many programs and activities that we do. Our PTA also has incredible support from the faculty and staff at REES. All the time, service and hard work, from our volunteers, teachers, and REES staff are invaluable to our children and, after all, they are the main reason the PTA exists — the overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
There are several committee chair and co-chair positions still open for next year. If you have any questions about volunteer opportunities or want to know how to get more involved, please contact our VP Volunteers, Kim Poulton, at firstname.lastname@example.org. As we bring the school year to a close and celebrate our successes, we thank our outgoing board members for their service to Rivers Edge and welcome our newest officers.

The 2017-18 REES PTA Executive Board is busy planning and preparing for the 2017-18 school year. Working together with Mrs. James and the rest of the REES staff, the students of REES will continue to have healthy minds, bodies, and spirit in the 2017-18 school year. Looking forward to seeing all new and returning students and their families in September — but in the meantime, have a safe, fun and relaxing summer!
